The year 2024 will be remembered as a turning point in Thailand’s history for minority rights. By legalizing same-sex marriage, Thailand becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to take this historic step. It is only the third in Asia, following Taiwan in 2019 and Nepal in 2023.
